Local youth to experience third world life in Africa
Haeli Goertzen daughter of Rudy and Penny Goertzen of Hamiota will travel to Uganda and Tanzania as a Youth Intern funded by the Canadian International Development Agency to assist Marquis Project funded programs. She will report life there by email while observing crafts production, women and disabled producers, and community development work. Marquis Project a small NGO relies on donations. An upcoming Halloween fundraiser on Oct 31 at the Hamiota Community Centre offers prizes for best costumes.

Health Auxiliary delegates attend Gimli convention
One hundred eighty one delegates from 50 auxiliaries attended the 51st convention of the Manitoba Health Auxiliary at Gimli Country Resort, Sept 26 to 28. President Mabel Pratt chaired sessions that redrew regional boundaries to align with new Regional Health Authorities. The group voted to terminate the position of second vice-president. Four speakers provided information and entertainment on change.
