Plan Your Winter Forage Program To Cut Cow Feeding Costs

Manitoba Agriculture advises cow calf producers to analyze forage quality and tailor feeding to cow needs through the winter. Key periods include the 60 days before calving and the 80 100 day post calving to breeding window, when energy and protein needs rise sharply. A nutritionist can develop a customized plan at no extra charge, yielding better calf weights and conception rates amid high forage and grain prices.
