Eaton’s closing sparks anger and sorrow in Canada
Bill Duncan laments Eaton’s Winnipeg store closing calling the T. Eaton Company a hoax and a poorly run Canadian institution. He recalls its vast influence from the Red River to the Pacific, the Tim’s statue meeting spot, and massive mail order work while noting misjudged moves toward youth and neglect of long-time seniors. Fred McGuinness confirms the collapse as a market slip and doomed rescue effort.
