Man constellations of beverage containers drive Manitoba recycling push

MSDR Inc expands its program adding glass and plastic wine and spirits containers and juice and water bottles to the Manitoba system. General manager Lance Morrison reports near 400 000 pounds monthly and a 180 percent rise in material intake in the first half of 1990 versus 1989. MSDR operates redemption centers and depots with 400 plus non profits, funds raised locally, and buys back value by weight. The firm crushes recyclables and sells to North American manufacturers, with no government funding. Morrison emphasizes a broader recycling mission for Manitobans.
