The Hamiota Credit Union Limited in Hamiota opened its new office on October 15 1990 in a Gardham Construction building with an official ceremony on Friday November 16 1990 at 3 00 p m. Over 250 guests attended including MLA Leonard Derkach Reeve Nelson Woods and several CU officials. Ernie Brown founder cut the ribbon while gifts from CUMIS Insurance and Cash Security Services were presented.

Hamiota Seniors Council funds for recreation upgrades
The Hamiota Seniors Council Inc receives 3,493 dollars under Health Canada New Horizons. Funds will boost recreation facilities for lawn bowling, floor curling, horseshoes and shuffleboard, plus a meeting area upgrade ahead of the Manitoba 55 Seniors Games in 1991.

Tea marks 80th birthday in Oak River
A Come and Go Tea at the Oak River Community Centre on Thursday November 22 honored Bob King for his 80th birthday. One hundred twenty two friends from Oak River and nearby communities signed the guest book. MC Dick Heapy recalled their years together and conveyed best wishes. A Serenade in Song honored Bob from coach Ivy Heapy curler Denise Henry and golfer Merle Argue. Guests enjoyed lunch and visiting.

The Office of Extension Brandon University invites rural Manitoba communities to request off campus courses from first year Arts to postgraduate Education. The program offers visiting professors teleconferencing and correspondence options with study skills library skills and career and academic counselling. An available counsellor offers in community visits until March 31 1991. Public information meeting is scheduled for Wednesday November 28 at 2 0 pm at the Hamiota Collegiate.
