Hamiota Chamber Names Officers for 1970 71 Term
The Hamiota and District Chamber of Commerce met November 17 1970 at the Hamiota Hotel. Officers for 1970 71 include Don Mennie president Paul August 1st vice president Ross Fraser 2nd vice president Bill Chappell secretary Len Chapman treasurer and directors Willard Oprak Mac Campbell Harvey Houck and Ross Fraser. The group agreed monthly dinner meetings on the second Wednesday and directed officers to arrange Santa Claus visits and Christmas promotions while contacting provincial officials about reforming and incorporating with the Provincial Chamber of Commerce. The meeting adjourned at 1 15 p.m.

UCW November Meeting Held At The Church

Water Works Officially Opened in Kenton
Kenton celebrated the opening of its new Water and Sewage System with a 4:00 p.m. ribbon cutting at the Treatment Plant presided by Village Committee member Lorne Curry. Barry Strange of Underwood McLellan and Associates spoke, Rev. H Dykman dedicated the project, and plant engineer John Schamber explained the system using sand activated carbon alum and chlorine. A reception followed at Kenton Memorial Hall, with banquet at 6:30 and remarks by M L A Morris McGregor Manitoba Water Supply Board member Tom Weber Hon Walter Dinsdale and others appreciating the community effort.
