Local Resident Honoured With Citizenship Award

William T. Andrew of Hamiota was named among six Manitobans honored at the Manitoba Travel and Convention Association Good Citizenship Awards Banquet in Winnipeg. The 64 year old received life membership in the Associated Hospitals of Manitoba and has long served as clerk, secretary treasurer and hospital district organizer, with roles in several health organizations. Other winners include Searle Leache Angus Shortt Ruth Heys Struthers Brandon mayor Stephen Magnacca and Elizabeth Brarnarson.

Anniversary Celebrated at Kirk Home for 40th

On November 6 an afternoon and evening tea marked the 40th anniversary of Mr and Mrs A W Kirk at their home. About 160 guests signed the guest book. A buffet supper followed at the home of their daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Earl Gregory. Out of town guests arrived from Marchwell Yorkton Saskatchewan Melita Coulter Pipestone Miniota Shoal Lake Decker and Crandall.

Hospital Guild Holds Annual Meeting Summary

The Ham inta and Pitlochry Hospital Guild held its annual meeting on November 2, 1969 with Mrs. Gordon Allen presiding. The group expressed thanks for support and reported year receipts of 1260.93 and 1117.78 in expenditures. They donated to Hamiota District Hospital and paid annual allocations, elected officers for two years, and issued special thanks to retiring and long-serving members.

UCW Meet at Cardale United Church

The UCW held an afternoon meeting at Cardale United Church with nine members. President Mrs G Hyndman led the business portion and the nominating committee prepared a report to be announced at the December meeting. Mrs Marion Kirkpatrick led a program on the final study of China focusing on Chinese culture and China Canada relations.

Sow Gives Birth Twice In Short Span For Mr Mack

On September 28, 1969 a young sow owned by Mr Norman Mack bore four piglets but only four were raised. By November 12, 1969 the same sow had another litter of seven, of which six are being raised. This unusual occurrence prompts questions about how such multiple farrowings could happen.
