Tap Water Scalds Highlight Fire-Harm Risk
A Manitoba review of burns at the Children's Hospital shows hot tap water as the leading cause of scalds, with beverages the main agent. Temperatures at 150 F cause third degree burns in under two seconds, 140 F in six seconds, and lowering to 130 F would add safety and save energy. First aid urges immediate cold water cooling then sterile dressing and medical review.
