There will be a meeting of the Chapter of the Rural Deanery of Minnedosa and 8S School Institute at Christ Church Hamiota beginning Tuesday evening Nov 21. The Chapter opens with 8 p.m. service led by Rev F Cornish of Yorkton. Everyone invited to Wednesday morning service at 8:30. Business session 10:30 a.m. to 5:50 p.m. Wednesday includes welcome address and reply. Thursday hours 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. are devoted to S.S. work.

The Hamiota Curling Club calls a council chamber meeting at 8 p.m. on Wednesday November 22. Business includes fixing the bonspiel date and balloting for skips. Committees for ice reception entertainment and collecting are to be chosen.

Extreme cold and snowfall forced all threshing outfits to stop for the season. Machines broke down, leaving about half the district's grain unthreshed and postponed till spring. Farmers with stored grain wait out the winter while western regions face similar, or worse, conditions.

Silver Wedding Fittingly Celebrated at Van Alstine Home

The Van Alstines marked their 25th wedding anniversary with a Saturday evening gathering at their white and silver decorated home. Guests presented costly gifts, including cut glass and silver. Mrs Van Alstine received a silver tea service from the Lavinia Ladies Aid in appreciation of her service and integrity. Mr Van Alstine noted as a successful Manitoba farming emigrant from Huron.

Threshers urged to report all grain threshing counts

The Threshera Lien Act requires owners or operators of all threshing machines to file monthly returns of grain threshed with the department of agriculture. The notice stresses including every machine and warns of fines for noncompliance, aiming to reduce guesswork in annual grain production figures.
