Holland Based Lyndon Holland Heads To Ennia Cup

Lyndon Johnston Holland and Melinda Kunheggi compete in the Ennia Challenge Cup in The Hague November 9 to 13 with the Canadian skating team including Charlene Wong Gordon Forbes and Rod and Karyn Garossino. They will then travel to Zagreb for singles events with John Thomas and Kelly Johnson. Carded athlete status earns each $385 monthly for nine months from the Sports Federation of Canada.

Health Centre Auxiliary Meets at Hamiota October 14

The Hamiota Health Centre Auxiliary met with Mrs Cora Shier presiding and 14 districts represented. September liaison reports show 67 admissions and 77.73 percent occupancy while blood use totaled 8 packed cells and 79 cryoprecipitate. Home Care includes 18 workers and 48 clients. mobile meals serve 24 clients.

Hamiota Girl Guides Reorganize and Plan Activities

The 1st Hamiota Girl Guide Association reorganized on September 17 with 31 Brownies, 15 Girl Guides, and 2 Pathfinders registered under listed leaders. A parent meeting formed the committee. In late October the groups toured Brandon sites and enjoyed a McDonalds visit, with a Halloween party and bonfire events for Brownies and Pathfinders.

Handicapped Services Gets Grant

Winnipeg highways minister Samuel Askiw announced a 1389 grant to the Town of Neepawa to support operating a transportation service for handicapped persons. The Neepawa and District Disabled Personal Association runs the service within Neepawa and to Langford Lansdowne and Rosedale. The grant aids the Program for Transportation of Handicapped Persons in Rural Manitoba, offering financial and technical help to municipalities establishing such services.
