The Birdtail River School Division No. 38 held a regular meeting at Shoal Lake on May 21 1970 at 8 00 p m. Trustees Fulton Waddell Rapley Randall Butcher Lewycky Fouillard Hyndman and Falloon attended. The board adopted May 14 minutes and received filed correspondence including notices from Education Strathclair C and others and passed the superintendent report. The Birch tail River Board praised Birtle students for Reach for the Top zone win and planned presentation of division pins, adjourned for June 4 1970 at 11 30 p m.

Centennial Musical Reunion Honors Mary Corley in Hamiota
Mrs. Kennedy of Brandon hosted a Centennial Project musical reunion at the Fraternal Hall in Hamiota honoring her sister Mary Corley. Friends and musicians from Brandon Winnipeg Foxwarren Esterhazy California sent telegrams as Kylie Corley played violin and Oscar Dimond led a mix of Dixieland tunes and dances. A decorated celebration included a large birthday cake a color ed telephone gifts and a final song by Harmony Music Makers with a luncheon to conclude.

Recreation Commission Sets Up School Sports Clinics
Hamiota Recreation Commission met May 21 at the Elementary School with six members and three visitors. A Centennial Sports Caravan arrives May 29 with children clinics 1 5 pm and gymnastic demonstrations for adults at 7 pm. 8 10 pm offers volleyball badminton tennis and handball clinics all free. Leadership courses for boys and girls run at Gimli Peace Gardens, with Creative Arts Week August 21 30 offering meals accommodation and instruction for 75 dollars. apply to Gord Lyall by June 15.

Oliver Anniversary Observed in Decker District
Friends and relatives gathered May 24 at the Sunley home to honor Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Oliver on their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple married May 15 1920 and later moved to Alberta now living in Lloydminster. Hamiota Hospital Aid Holds May Meeting and Plans
The Hamiota Hospital Aid No. 7 met in the community room with Mrs. Wiltsey presiding. Eleven districts were represented. 194 attended the hospital tea. Reports cited 96 hospital admissions, 3 births, 117 treated, and 6485 pounds of laundry costing 518.50. A centennial tree was planted. volunteers are sought for hospital carts. The 1971 regional meeting will be in Hamiota May 20.

Legion Auxiliary Schedules May Meeting in Oak River
Oak River Manitoba May meeting of the Legion Auxiliary with eleven members present decided to canvass for the Salvation Army again. Rev Bowins bought a Brandon house to board and care for mentally retarded adults and the group will buy a single bed and mattress for the home. A certificate will be purchased to show the Stewart shield last year for the largest membership increase. Winnie McCallum reported on the Birtle Rally. June meeting will be a pot luck supper from 6 30 to 7 00 with water or fuel won.

Hamiota 4H Pony Club Holds May Meetings
The seventh meeting on May 4 discussed a ride-a-thon and received a ten dollar Manitoba 4H Council donation. Members attended a horse judging in Hudson and learned judging and showing techniques. The eighth meeting on May 19 at Hamiota Collegiate covered uniforms exchange trip to Alberta Achievement Day and demonstrations.

Councillors from Pool sub-district 504 met at Lavinia. Glen Bridge spoke about a Winnipeg delegates meeting attended with John Wythe. The council will sponsor campers at Camp Wanna Kumble this summer and invites interested youths from Crandall Miniota Beulah Isabella Decker or Lavinia to sign up by June 6th. A float for centennial parades will be built with Gerald Shier Glen Sunley and Doug Leland chairing a committee to coordinate with other sub districts.
