Memorial Service for King Edward Held in Knox Church

The memorial service for the late King Edward in Knox Church last Friday afternoon was a notable success with a city procession from the Council Chamber. Mayor Whimster handed the remnant of the service to Rev. J McKinney as three ministers delivered brief addresses on various aspects of the King’s life and legacy. The hymns and order mirrored larger venues, and residents praised the solemn, well conducted ceremony.

Good Farming and Standing Grain Competition Planned

Hamiota Agricultural Society directs an upcoming meeting in McConnell's hall on June 7 at 1 30 pm with Jas Murray of Brandon and J A McGregor of Manitou speaking on grasses clovers and soil cultivation. A Scotia school house talk that evening invites all farmers. A standing grain contest with tenacre entries closes June 18. prizes range from 5 to 25 dollars and grain standings offer 15 and 10 dollars. A new grand stand and building committee are formed. Empire Day Observed At Local School Program Delights Crowd

Empire Day was observed in school with united lower and upper rooms. Visitors heard a program of songs recitations readings and addresses by Rev Young J McConnell and Ed L Stone. Instructor Stevens led drills and signaling exhibition. Boys showed creditable effort but many were not familiar with the drill and the speaker suggested making it compulsory.
