Graduands Celebrate Graduation in Oakner School

The Oakner School auditorium hosted a 1964 graduation scene with chair Allan Roberson introducing students including Lynda Kidd Blair Bailey Carol Brooks Edgar Beamish and more. The event featured a mural by Doug Kirk and Arnold Davis, musical interludes by Phyllis Mathison and Jim McConnell, and a grand march ending in a gala dance with turkey banquet. A travelogue by Mr. Heapy drew a large audience, and local notices mention early spring tulips, a mysterious heavenly body sighting, multiple births on Mother's Day, and a rail site development project south of Main Street with bulldozing actions.
