Farmers urged to choose Garry or Russell oat variety
The article notes farmers can still select Garry or Russell oat varieties for this season. Septoria disease appeared on Rodney stands last year and may recur, reducing yield and quality. It suggests considering a new variety, as no crop variety lasts forever, with Garry and Russell seen as safer high yielding options. The question will be discussed at next year’s agronomist conference.
