Hamiota Farmer Joins Three Tonne Club for Wheat Yield
Robert Hedley of Manitoba achieved 4.27 tonnes per hectare on a 16.5 hectare field to earn membership in the May & Baker Three Tonne Club. The program honors western farmers with yields of three tonnes per hectare or more and will award members for three years with a club crest and certificate.

Ceramic Club Show and Tea Held in Hamiota
The Hamiota Ceramic Club held its annual Show and Tea at the Community Hall on a sunny Saturday April 30. Members arranged last season’s creations for display among houseplants and drapery while Mrs Inza Houck showcased Centennial Souvenirs. Rev Lynas opened the event as Pat Kirk introduced him. a large crowd attended and lunch was served. Winning tickets were drawn by Stacey and Heather Todd of Winnipeg. first prize ceramic basket and bouquet went to Joan Strachan, second prize animal cookie jar to Eva Drysdale, and third prize a bread tray to Ian McPhaden.

Manitoba approves contract for teens psychiatric centre
Health Minister Larry Desjardins announced the Manitoba Health Services Commission approved the construction of a new adolescent psychiatric treatment centre in Winnipeg on Tecumseh Street between William and Bannatyne. The 25 bed facility will offer long term in patient care and include out patient rehabilitative programs.

Centennial Banquet Honors Miniota Seniors at 1983 Event
The Miniota Centennial Banquet on April 27 1983 honored 105 seniors aged 70 and over in the Municipal area. Reeve Jack Hanlin and Gerald Shier led the program with guest speaker Allan Armitage and Queen Tracy Peel. The evening featured a turkey dinner, toasts, Brownies songs, a skit and a Royal Bank scroll presenting the Centennial Award of Honor to each honored guest.

Seminar Held by Manitoba Museums in Hartney
The Western Manitoba Region of the Association of Manitoba Museums held its spring seminar in Hartney Manitoba on April 28 1983 with Eleanor O Callaghan chairing. Forty six members from fifteen museums attended with greetings by Bill Duthie the Reeve and the Hartney mayor. Three Winnipeg based Museum of Man and Nature speakers discussed Basic Catalogue Techniques Care of Historical Photographs and Advisory and Extension service support. A casserole lunch followed served by the Hartney Museum Committee with local attendees Eleanor O Callaghan Bob Clarke Peggy Clarke.
