Final concert crowns Birdtail River Arts Festival winners

The April 16 closing concert at Miniota School Gymnasium announced trophy and scholarship recipients across piano, instrumental, vocal, folk, sacred, and visual arts. Hamiota Chamber Hosts Rodeo Lunches Funds For Park

The Hamiota Chamber of Commerce hosted barbecue lunches downtown to support the Triple H Rodeo weekend. Friday proceeds totaling 500.00 were directed to the Millennium Roadside Park fund, with a 50.00 donation from the Manitoba Park Council.

Hamiota Council approves 1999 budget and office shutdown

The Town of Hamiota held a public hearing for the 1999 financial plan on April 14 with no ratepayers in attendance. By-law 299 passed second and third readings, the financial plan was adopted, and funding for the community foundation and startup funds for the Hamiota Foundation were approved. The office will close April 26 to 28 for staff to attend a conference. A conservation sub-committee was formed and a public works wishlist was reviewed including a $500 floor jack. The CAO will seek a water tower refinishing quote and a summer student is to be hired.
