At Oak River Community Centre on April 18 Lions Night honored Lion Jim Brown with the Melvin Jones Award. The event drew Lions from Hamiota Kenton and Brandon with speeches by Ben Ward and Governor Murray Marchenski, and a Quest Program fundraiser netted 127 dollars.

Health Auxiliary tea and bazaar planned at Hamiota
Hamiota Health Auxiliary met April 25 led by chair Pauline Campbell to finalize the Florence Nightingale tea and bazaar set for May 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hamiota Community Centre. Members thanked Oakner for Easter tray favours and Miniota for hosting the Birch Lodge birthday. The nominating committee failed to attract a second vice president, and several members plan to attend the Regional Conference in Russell on May 1. Marlene Andrew spoke on her work with Marquette, and Vaughn Wilson provided updates on the Hamiota Health Center Foundation and centre changes.
