Achievement Hamiota 4-H Club awards honors on April 25

The Hamiota Elementary gym hosted the annual Achievement event with 28 projects on display. Joann Baker and Karen Newton handed out mem ents, first to seventh year pins, and special achievement awards. Four projects advanced to Rally. A cry ham per raffle raised funds for the Cathy Jo Harrison Memorial. Audrey Kirk won the hamper.

Life memberships presented at recent Ag Society supper

At an Ag Society supper on April 26, 80 attendees enjoyed a Unit 1 and 2 UCW catered dinner. President Wallace Henderson presided as MC, with Dr Ed Rhode Collins and Morris and Joyce Deveson sending regrets. Thirty-two life membership certificates were awarded to directors, as Roger Wilson and Norah Gray handed them out and shared remarks from M.A.A.S. A video review of the 1959 fair and the 1984 vintage car parade entertained guests, followed by a scrapbook and photo album on display and an extended visit to close the evening.

McConnell Beef Club maps spring activities and events

The McConnell Beef Club met April 13 at the Hamiota Municipal Office to plan a Bingo and Dance on April 18. On May 3 4 H members learned about judging with John Thompson bringing animals to the Hamiota Fairgrounds. May 10 highway cleanup starts at Bridge Road between Shoal Lake and Hamiota with a 1:00 p.m. meeting at Irwins Drive Inn. A rain date is set for May 24. A Rally is planned in Rossburn on June 7, with Our 4 H Achievement in Strathclair on June 15 and Interclub on June 16.
