Massed Youth Choir to Observe Manitoba Day in Winnipeg
A massed choir of about 900 high school voices will assemble on the Legislative Building steps at noon May 12 to salute Manitoba Day. The Manitoba Day Choral Festival is coordinated by Cultural Affairs Branch with the Manitoba Choral Directors Association, marking the province's 1870 act granting provincial status. The event includes a plaque ceremony on Albert Street to designate the area as historic, followed by a 7:30 p.m. concert at the Winnipeg Convention Centre Hall B with recordings by Robert Van Voorhis for the Canadian Mathieson Trophy. Tickets are available from Cultural Affairs Branch or at the door.
