Journey for Light 1989 Highlights Lions Eye Bank drive
In January more than 40 lions roared along a 500 mile snowmobile route for Journey for Light 1989 to aid the Lions Eye Bank. Riders began in The Pas on January 26 and traveled through Roblin Swan River Birtle Brandon Minnedosa and Neepawa before rejoining in Portage la Prairie for the Winnipeg telethon. The drive has raised funds surpassing last year’s $14,000 as the need for corneal transplants continues with 56 Manitoba Northwest Ontario residents awaiting surgery and about 95 new additions yearly. The Lions Eye Bank thanks Hamiota Lions Club and the community for support.
