Tax breaks for students ease parental tax burden
Canadians in postsecondary studies can claim two key breaks. Tuition fees may be deducted if over 100 and a certificate from the institution must be included with the return. Education Deduction offers 50 per month for full or partial months of attendance, usable to zero the student’s income before allowing any remaining amount to be claimed by a parent or other supporter.
