Manitoba renters outside Winnipeg and Brandon kept protection under Rent Stabilization. Rural units decontrolled after Sept 30 1978 unless tenants file complaints by Apr 1 1979 about unpaid rebates. Minister Warner Jorgenson notes many tenants knew of rebate rights and some rebates remain unpaid.

Manitoba Regional Recreation Councils Receive Grants
Fitness, Recreation and Sport Minister Bob Banman announced total grants of 23000 to seven Manitoba regional recreation councils to promote and organize activities. Each council including Westmen 4500 Parkland 3500 Interlake 3000 Eastman 3000 Pembina Valley 2000 Central Plains 2000 Norman Recreation Association 5000. The funds mostly cover travel meals accommodation and admin costs as many volunteers serve without pay and 60 percent of the provincial share is recoverable from the federal government under the Western Northland Agreement.
