Park fee increases and job cuts hit Parks Canada
Canada will raise entrance fees for national parks including Riding Mountain as part of a 15 million dollar cut for 1996 97. About 200 full time jobs will be eliminated and revenue expected from higher user fees may cover 40 percent of the shortfall. Budget documents show Parks Canada receiving 311 million for the new fiscal year, five percent below 1995 96 and about 30 million less than 1994 95 amid debt pressures.
