Ladies Club Meet at Park Residence Quilting Bee
The Chumah Club held a quilting bee in the Park Residence lounge on March 10 with 15 members. Mrs. Margaret Kirk hosted. Group III served a dainty lunch by Dorothy Amy Bernice Lewis and Pearl Kidd. Treasurer reported $163.31 on hand and cards noting well wishes and anniversary gifts were recorded.

Royal Manitoba Winter Fair Attracts The Winners
North America's finest livestock headline the Royal Winter Fair in Brandon from March 29 to April 3. Beasts include Shorthorn Angus Aberdeen Limousin Hereford and Charolais bulls with light and heavy horses beef and dairy cattle poultry and swine. The Keystone Centre hosts events and the all breed sale draws visitors and buyers from across the continent. Royal status since 1970 adds prestige to Brandon's agricultural prominence.

Hockey Tournament in Decker Crowned Birtle and Decker Pennants
Despite stormy weather an eight and under hockey tournament was held in Decker on March 6. Six teams competed with Birtle winning the A side and Decker the B side. Final outcomes included Miniota defeating Virden in an overtime showing, and multiple afternoon games with Pennant winners named for each matchup.

Tossing Manes Hold March Meeting in Hamiota
The sixth Hamiota Tossing Manes meeting on March 9 in the Ag Rep office had 10 members and 2 leaders present. Donnie McDonald joined as a new member. Donna Davis and Ward Dixon spoke, Audrey Fenty gave a prompt address, and plans.include attending Brandon Winter Fair and 4 H Boonster events March 14-15. The club toured a new Vet Clinic run by Dr. Andy Reat and set April 3 for the next meeting.

World Day of Prayer Observed at Oak River United Church
A World Day of Prayer service Friday afternoon March 5 at Oak River United Church featured read Call to Prayer led by Mrs McNeill and responsive parts by all. Three women portrayed poverty and repression, singing listener theme There’s a World out there. Mrs White spoke on the Church’s responsibility. An offering of 40 dollars was sent to the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada and visitors from Crandall attended.

The Royal Bank announces a full time agrologist located in Brandon to serve Western Manitoba. General Manager W A R MacDonald notes Clarence Gutheil’s visits and states Mr Sinclair has qualifications in agricultural credit and farm management to assist farmers and over 30 Royal branches in the region. The move makes Royal the first Manitoba bank with a Brandon agrologist.
