Local readers receive announcements from Hamiota Manitoba including plays by Y P A groups and Circle events. Updates include theater productions Sonny Jane Whose Little Bride Are You and McConnell Play plus daffodil tea bazaars and Easter cantata with admission.
The McConnell Calf Club met at Jimmie Emerson’s home on March 8 with 11 attendees including leader Grant Little. Plans were made for an evening event and for club representation at a Public Speaking Contest. The group adjourned after a host lunch. thanks were offered to Mrs Emerson. Several notices announced upcoming square dance and demonstrations in upholstering. The WMS and WA held meetings March 2 at Mrs Satterthwaite’s home with plans for a bazaar and a April 6 gathering at Mrs McDougall’s home. Various members were noted visiting Winnipeg and Lenore, with other social updates and a final mention of the McConnell Baby Band meeting.
Mrs Maxwell hosted a gathering on Tuesday April Sth with a note of date change. Mrs R Watt stayed in Brandon with Mr and Mrs Don Purdey. Jim Brereton has returned home from hospital and best wishes go to Mr Wilson Satterthwaite at Winnipeg General Hospital. C Pangman M Richardson and G Scott spent the weekend at home. Murray Richardson will spend two weeks in town for practice teaching at McConnell School.
The Oakner W A meeting held March 4 at Mrs Mcreelys home drew 12 members and 4 visitors. Mrs Rankin and Mrs Westwood led, with $3.35 collected for the W MS. An April roll call will donate groceries to the Osborne Home. The group finalizes a Pot Luck Community Supper for Friday April 1 at 6 30 pm at the school with admission 50 cents, children 6 to 14 35 cents. Films entertain. A total of $10 donated toward a new coffee maker aids rink meals during the bonspiel.
The Aene Curling Club announces a charity bake sale sponsored by Broadry Bakery. Proceeds will fund club equipment and youth outreach, with details on date venue and donation options to be announced.
