Pharmacare to undergo major changes next month
ROXANN BARKER reports that effective April 1 Manitoba Health Pharmacare will implement the Manitoba Drug Programs Information Network linking about 243 retail pharmacies to a central database. The system tracks drug histories, updates deductibles per transaction, and allows customers to pay only the uncovered portion at the point of sale with government reimbursement via electronic funds transfer. Receipts for 1993 claims must be filed with Pharmacare by April 30. late filings are ineligible. Customers will need the nine digit Manitoba Health Card number at the pharmacy.

Knight Takes Part in Encounters with Canada Program
Michael Knight of Decker returned from Ottawa Ontario where he joined a week long Encounters with Canada session for 16 to 18 year olds. He joined 120 students exploring science and technology while touring Carlton University museums and other city sites.

Canada Post ends Saturday highway mail delivery nationwide
Canada Post canceled Saturday highway services across Canada affecting locations without letter carriers. A March 4 letter to post offices says the move aims for operational and financial efficiencies and takes effect in Manitoba on March 12. Mail received after Friday cutoff or on Saturday will go out with Monday’s mail. No hours cuts were announced. Manitoba post offices remain open 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
