Ladies' Aid presents fur muff and robe to Rev and Mrs McCulloch

Friday afternoon the Ladies' Aid Society surprised the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. McCulloch at the manse with an addressed tribute and a fur muff and robe. The gift, read by Miss Amy Chapman and presented by Mrs. J. G. Barr, thanked them for devoted church and home service.

Hamiota Council Grants Funds and Approves By-Laws in 1910 Meeting

The Hamiota municipal council met February 19 with Reeve Houck presiding. It adopted audit and minutes, granted 450 to the Hamdita Agricultural Society for 1910, appointed poundkeeper and appraisers, and read by-law No 802 and 302 for officials and weed control. A ten cent toll between Kenton Hamdiot a and other towns was approved, with service and switching charges under discussion. The finance committee reported accounts and adjourned to March 26.

Isabella Weather Damage and Local Happenings

The Saturday night storm left marks in the district with damage at Wm. Iverach's windmill and doors torn from his machinery shed, while John Finkbeiner's windmill and grinder also sustained damage. Inspectors listed are J. E. Heise, J. L. Thompson, and D. Kelly.

Decker Community Notes Across Lavinia District

The C N R snow plow cleared the track while the elevator stays full with four cars ready for shipment and daily intake reaching up to 2 500 bushels. Edward Lintz returns with his bride and is welcomed by Mrs Lintz and family. Blacksmith McKenzie remains busy and capable. Lavinia Young People’s Class held its first social at Mr and Mrs Wm Decker’s, featuring phonograph music by J Bailey. The next social will be at Mr H M Swne’s home with a debate on city life.

High Wind Triggers Fires Across Town Over Weekend

Strong winds Saturday night and Sunday sparked several blazes. E M Tennyson’s chimney fire was contained, while a wood stove fire damaged a barber shop room above. Hahn’s Oakner store burned, with loss of goods and residence contents. A joint stock plan formed to rebuild. Routledge residence south of Crandell also burned, with family escaping.

Town Council Minutes Show Donation For Band Uniforms

The regular town council meeting in the council chamber discussed last month’s minutes and ordered payments to G A Wright for draying H Reader and Jno W Scott salaries and Manitoba Steel Wool Co. Also a $10 grant was approved to aid the band in purchasing uniforms. The meeting noted the provincial auditor report and extended the tax and fee discussions, then adjourned.
