Miniota Cuts Recreation Funding For 1992 Budget Year

The R.M. of Miniota trims Midwest Recreation District funding by 2200, reducing total district revenue to 4400. Last year Miniota contributed 5000, about 20 percent of district expenses shared with Hamiota municipalities. The council may curb services if no extra funding arises, despite ratepayer support at meetings in Isabella and Beulah. The province’s new matching funding program could worsen losses by eliminating eligible provincial matches. The district employs a full time director and a part time secretary, and includes Hamiota, Miniota, Blanshard, and potentially Woodworth in the future. Residents are urged to lobby council.
