Manitoba extends visitation rights to extended family under act amendments
Manitoba proclaims 17 provisions to broaden access to children by grandparents and other relatives when in a child’s best interest. The amendments let masters in the Court of Queen's Bench issue consent orders for permanent guardianship to speed up cases, clarify peace officer roles in investigations, and require reporting of disciplinary outcomes to the department. Proclamation follows a year of public consultation with remaining amendments expected later this year.
