Tax Budget '98: Hollow victory for Canadians urged by Vrsnik
Victor Vrsnik, Provincial Director of the Manitobaers Association, argues budget 98 is a partial win with $7.7 billion in tax relief but a rising national debt. He notes $25 billion in tax increases over four years, bracket creep harming low income families, and calls for debt-focused policies and inflation-indexed brackets. He cites Canada’s June 30 tax freedom day and laments missed opportunities to reward taxpayers.
