1998 Spring Forecast Predicts Low Flood Potential
The River Forecast Centre of Manitoba Natural Resources reports a relatively low spring flood potential due to likely El Nino conditions. Assiniboine River runoff should be below average if El Nino persists, with snowmelt timing and soil moisture contributing to the outlook. A break in El Nino could raise overbank flow risk to one in ten if heavy precipitation occurs.
