Winnipeg opposition leader Sterling Lyon blasts the NDP budget as underestimating expenditures and overestimating revenues. He notes a $200 million job fund but warns it will be borrowed, questions credit ratings, and accuses the government of mismanaging provincial finances and hurting job creation.
Winnipeg fitness minister Larry Desjardins announced a $125 000 boost to the Man Plan athlete aid program funded by lottery revenues. The measure expands support to athletes coaches and officials identified by 63 provincial sport associations. About 200 recipients are expected to receive assistance ranging from 300 to 1250 dollars this year.
