Drag racing enthusiast chases speed in Manitoba circuits
Dale McConnell, a decade long drag racer on the Manitoba Snowmobile Drag Racing Association circuit, competes in Stock A, Improved Stock and Pro Stock classes aboard a 1979 Yamaha SRX 440. He races eight events a year on ice tracks about 660 feet long, facing competitors from Manitoba and beyond. He boasts roughly 95 percent wins in Stock A over ten years, with tear downs at season ends and a spotless safety record. He also pursues curling in winter and plans more races before the season ends.
