The W. A. to the Hamiota District Hospital No. 7A met June 25 in the Council Room with 13 districts represented. Oakner reported donating two pillows and further allocations. A Blood Donors Club event is set for Orange Hall Hamiota on July 27 from 2 to 5:30 pm. no July meeting. The Mizpah Benediction closed the session.
The Hamiota Woman's Progressive Conservative Association met at Mrs W Cochrane's home on Wednesday June 23. They discussed the Winnipeg leadership convention report from delegate Mrs Cochrane and planned a fall re organization and a drive for larger membership. A program committee including Mrs W W Kirk Mrs D Hern Mrs J M Williams Mrs M Manwaring and Mrs Max McConnell was formed to arrange a series of social events for the coming year. Lunch was served by the hostess.
The National Employment Service offers a six week program for farmers to visit Ontario to harvest hay and grain crops at reduced rates. Transportation costs total ten dollars down and eleven fifty for return. Placements in Toronto or Ottawa farms pay eighty five to one hundred dollars per month plus board for ages seventeen to sixty. Application forms available at the Agricultural Office.
