Kenton Plans July 1 Canada Day Festival Spread

Kenton celebrates Canada Day with a full family program on Friday July 1. Activities include a pancake breakfast at the United Church 9 to 11 am, a 35 mile Lions Rally from Kenton Community Hall 11 am to 2 pm, Fish Derby, horseshoes, and a Beach Volleyball tournament at Kenworth Dam, a sheep herding demonstration by Sandy Sanderson’s Border Collies from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, a pit barbeque by Harding Agricultural Society, and a free outdoor stage show at Kenworth Beach with a dusk fireworks display funded by donations. Amber Fleury headlines the 8 pm concert.

Two New RCMP Recruits Arrive For Hamiota Detachment

Two new uniformed officers join the Hamiota RCMP for the summer. Constable Harvey Malcolm arrives after five weeks of training in Regina and will assist the detachment while pursuing a career in law enforcement. Constable Wilfred Bone is stationed at Hamiota under an interim government agreement and DOTC cooperation, focusing on the Birdtail Sioux Indian Reserve and surrounding areas, bringing 10 years with Brandon Police and three years with DOTC Police. Welcome to Hamiota.
