Funding received for ball diamonds at Hamiota Fair Grounds

Work will begin on the baseball diamonds at Hamiota Fair Grounds with several grants applied, including Manitoba Sports Facility Fund. Planned improvements include fencing irrigation sodding and red aggregate. Diamond two will be moved north to reduce outfield overlap. Local groups have pledged funds and provincial playoffs Mosquito C and Midget B are set for July 22 to 24 with most work to be completed beforehand.

Hamiota bands showcase spring concert talents

Hamiota Collegiate Bands staged a packed spring concert with 44 junior high players opening with O Canada. A 17 member choir performed three solos by Karla Badger Ian George and Morgan Conner. The 51 member senior high band closed with five selections including Cheers Les Miserables Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast plus God Save the Queen. Band conductor Jeff Medwick departs after a year of notable improvement praised by Dr Alan Ranson for his work with the students.

Dancer Elizabeth Snell selected for RWB Summer School

Elizabeth Snell, recent winner with a gold and two silvers at Winnipeg's Provincial Dance Festival, will attend the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Professional School for a five week session after auditions across Canada. She has taught young dancers in Hamiota, performs with Brandon School of Dance and Brandon Dance Ensemble, and serves as a dance representative on the ensemble board.
