Swift Current Old Time Fiddlers Draw Big Hamiota Crowd
The Hamiota Elementary School Auditorium filled to capacity for a 1984 tour by the Swift Current Old Time Fiddlers. About 300 tickets sold out despite the event’s capacity, with 27 performers and several dozen helpers sharing a long day of lunch, parking lot song, and a late evening dance.

Oak River arena overflowed for a Centennial dinner honoring pioneers aged seventy years and over. VIPs included Reeve Harvey English MP Charlie Mayer MLA Doug Gourlay MLA Dave Blake Rev Tom Delgaty and Abe Sclater. speeches praised pioneer efforts and noted regional changes since horse and buggy days.

Newdale 4-H Club Tops Rally With Three Top Awards
Fourteen club members and six leaders attended the June 2 4-H Rally in Kenton. They displayed home ec and education exhibits, placed second in marching Home Ec, and joined workshops, a Shell Oil United Kingdom travelogue, SKITS, and a Dress Review. Top Award Winners were Judy Pederson Top Jr Crafts Trevor Wareham Top Photography and Lynda Switzer Top Jr Leader group and self determined Award.
