Manitoba Parks to Charge User Fees Starting June 29 1962
Manitoba will levy park and recreational area entrance fees to fund expanding development and maintenance. Three provincial parks White Shell Turtle Mountain Grand Beach and four recreational areas Patricia Beach Grand Valley Norquay Beach Rivers Beach will charge 50 cents per car per day or 3 dollars per car per season. Transients including milk bread pedlars and ice cream vendors will face annual vehicle licenses of 25 to 50 dollars.

The Woman's Aid to the Hamiota District Hospital No 7A held a June 22 meeting in the Hamiota Municipal building. President L Wright opened with a hospital prayer as 14 districts answered roll call. Beulah reported linen allocations, Crandall 15 hours mending, Isabella 53 towels. The treasurer noted 1073.12 in bank. A linen committee was formed. Lavinia read from the year book. Arrangements for a Blood Clinic were outlined for August 4 at the Hamiota Fraternal Hall. July mending assigned to Harding and August McConnell.

Portage Farmer Wins Canadian Plowing Championship
J. T. Toby Trimble of Portage la Prairie captured the Canadian Plowing Championship at Portage with 83 points earning the Esso Silver Plow and earning a world championship berth. Grant Wells of Stouffville finished second with 81 points. Mickey Demman, also from Portage, placed third with 76 points as 14 contestants from seven provinces competed under changing skies and heavy rain.

Annual Teachers Tour of Manitoba Planned
The tenth Annual Teacher's Tour of Manitoba is being planned by the Manitoba Department of Education with the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and Community Chambers. The two week event starts July 9 covering about 2500 miles across 25 communities with tours from Winnipeg west to Portage la Prairie and north to Flin Flon.

Northern Manitoba Angling Shines With Trophy Catches

The United Church Women of Hamiota United Church met June 14 at 2:30 p.m. in the church basement with Mrs. S. R. Armstrong chairing. A 400 lb cloth donation was acknowledged for shipment to Korea, eggs and cookies for Camp Robertson were approved for July 23, and 12 community concerns were listed under the theme Citizenship that Counts.
