A staged blaze in Winnipegosis on May 30 trained local volunteers and Winnipegosis fire brigade members under supervision from the provincial fire commission. The exercise used a two room house with municipal approval to study fog and cooling water methods, ventilation, and hose operations while improving equipment plans and underground cistern siting.

Manitoba Lad Locks in Strong Hay Permits Gain
The Manitoba lands branch reports a flood of hay and grazing permit applications on crown lands. Ordinary hay permits rose to 2,845 in 1961-62 from 1,283, while special hay permits grew to 314 and grazing permits stayed around 1,711. Permits are renewable yearly with bids by tender and charges of 25 cents per ton of hay.
