Taft Roosevelt correspondence on Canadian reciprocity revealed
President Taft argues in letters with Theodore Roosevelt that a Canada US reciprocity deal would make Canada an adjunct of the United States and shift major business to Chicago and New York. Roosevelt replies that free trade with Canada is admirable and could politically benefit the Republican party if wool and cotton matters are addressed.
