The eleventh annual convention of the South Shoal Lake County Sunday School Association met in Hamiota’s Methodist church on July 2 1912. Geo S Fraser presided over three sessions with reports from nine departments, discussions led by Rev J Mc Kidney Rev E Tarkington and others. Helen Park Winnipeg presented an illustrated lesson, and Miss Park delivered a main address on the child in our midst with Mr Pearce on what happens when work falters. The gathering heard strong talks, urged wider attendance, and approved renaming the Temperance Department Christian Citizenship. Next convention slated for Isabella with officers listed including Geo S Fraser W W Lewis KE Mark and Wm Iverach.
A pretty June ceremony was held at the King home as Miss Mary King wed Henry Knight of Elienville with Rev. J F Douglas officiating. Guests over sixty attended a supper and dancing followed, gifts included a gold watch and chain for the bride and a gold locket for the bridesmaid.
Closing exercises with prize distribution held last Friday afternoon at Me Connell's hall. A hot day reduced the program. a good turnout of parents attended. Prize winners included Grace grades 1 to 8 with multiple names in each class and the trustees prize for general proficiency awarded to Willie Todd from Miss Cochrane's room.
A June garden party drew a throng with four o clock gathering and tea time. McConnell led a friendly pickup baseball game winning by a few runs. The evening program entertained, with thanks to Rapid City friends and a National Anthem closing. Wedding bells for a June 2 couple and improvements by Rev. J F Douglas at the Manse noted. Some local residents traveled and visited, with various social news items and absences.
The Ladies Aid of Knoxchurch hosted the choir for a pleasant outing at Sandy Beach Monday. Mr and Mrs Chambere lent their cottage, boosting comfort and enjoyment. A large turnout enjoyed games boating bathing and fishing in a well rounded day at the lakeside.
