Weedy blaze under heat and dry spells prompt caution
During a hot dry spell weeds advance faster than crops. Spraying at the wrong stage risks crop stress reducing any benefit. Some herbicides stress crops more than others. Read labels and the Manitoba Weed Guide, and consult an Agricultural Representative or Weed Supervisor to choose effective chemicals under current conditions. Seeding flax in strips in July to reduce erosion supplements other conservation methods by trapping snow and boosting soil moisture, though strips alone cannot fully control erosion.
