The Ladies Hub met June 5 at Mrs. C. Lewis home with 14 members present. Mrs. Margaret Kirk led the worship service and the gathering closed with the Mizpah Benediction.
Local families shared weekend visits with relatives including Dr and Mrs Hudson and Mr and Mrs Venables. Red Cross swimming classes run July 8 to August 8 with fees 2.00 per person 4.00 per family registration ends July 10 see Ted Venables. Cadet Williamson won two trophies at Rivers inspection perfect attendance and best cadet in squadron. Also named cadets heading to Sea Island camp Earle Thompson David Castle Billy Mathison Glen Bailey.
Ed Wray died at Vancouver General Hospital on Tuesday 20 1958. He lived in the Hamiota district eighteen years and introduced power farming there. A 1913 Ames Iowa graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering he married Adelard Butchart of Rapid City in 1918. He is survived by his wife two daughters Mrs M Paulson and Mrs J E Sarrie and four presdents sen. One daughter Mrs J Mair predeceased him in 1954. Pallbearers were Jerry Kent Bert Caine Robert Lloyd Stanley Thompson Richard Farmer and Ken Leckie. Interment followed at Sea View Cemetery Vancouver B C.
The Ladies' Auxiliary to the pion held their regular meeting May 28 with good attendance. Two carloads of delegates went to Neepawa Rally and two to Oak River, returning with good reports. The group is serving dinner to the waste Star on July 1.
The Evening Branch of the M S met at Mrs Coombs home on June 10. Committees reported and volunteers from D Hudson Verna Clark and Jean Smith offered support for the Baby Band Party on June 11 and with the children. Community Friendship outlined an afternoon for residents 80 years and over at E Coombs on June 25 with invitations.
Examinations run through June 26 with a 1 00 p m trip to the Narrows for the closing party. Summer recess begins June 27 at 3 30 p m and fall term starts August 26 at 9 00 a m. Fall supplements written August 26 to 29. Staff for 1958 59 includes Principal Frank McKinnon and various high school and grade teachers.
A cairn unveiling and dedication will take place Sunday June 22 at 7 p.m. at the former Chumah Church site. Hamiota Band will attend and Rev. J M Wilson will conduct the dedication and preach the sermon.

Mr and Mrs Reg Williams spent months at Whiterock British Columbia and returned home last week. Mr and Mrs Roy Williams and family were in Winnipeg for the weekend. Stan Reid Jerry and Earle Milne visited Winnipeg. Ried will receive medical care at the General Hospital. M McConnell visits Winnipeg this week. Mrs Preston of Shoal Lakes visited L Skayman’s home.
