Local Grade Six Students Tour Winnipeg Landmarks
Twenty Grade 6 students from Hamiota Elementary visited Winnipeg for a three day educational tour led by teachers Linda Irwin Maureen Milne Shirley Park and Mardie Lee. Doug Pedlow oversaw transportation. Readouts included a Public Safety building tour with a court session the Museum of Man and Nature the Planetarium St Boniface Cathedral St Boniface Museum Lower Fort Garry and the Winnipeg Art Gallery.

Miss Pat Campbell assisted in arranging tours for Winnipeg students visiting the Manitoba Legislative Building. At Min Nedosa MLA Dave Blake and Virden MLA Morris McGregor greeted the group. Each member received a Manitoba bison pin. Speaker Peter Fox introduced the class. The trip was funded entirely by student fundraisers. Special thanks to Mrs. Ann Perlmutter for a donated watercolor won by Mrs. Estelle Hall.

The Oak River W I group held its June meeting reporting $327 for cancer, $36 from lunches, $20.60 from a travelling apron, and $8.70 from plant slips. Churchill Diversion Begins At Manitoba Hydro Channel Breach
The upstream cofferdam of Manitoba Hydro's diversion channel at South Bay breached on June 2 at 9 a.m. about 8 400 cfs of Churchill River water now flows into the Rat Notigi system. Southern Indian Lake sits near elevation 840 as gates are adjusted to hold 840 while ramping diversions to 30 000 cfs by fall 1977.
