Identification and control of blackleg in canola

Canola fields should be scouted for Blackleg using rosette stage symptoms. Dirty white lesions with pepper-like black pycnidia appear on leaves. Tilt is registered to control Blackleg from two leaf to bolting, suppressing disease up to three weeks. Rate 0.2 L per acre, about $12.75 per acre plus application, usable by ground or air.

Office hours adjust for summer field work SID LEWIS Weed Supervisor

Starting last week office hours change for the summer months. I will be in the office Mondays 8 and Thursday mornings, weather permitting, otherwise out in the field to keep up with the spray program. Messages are taken by the answering service and I will return calls when possible. Two common plants, yellow whitlow grass and pygmy flower, are not serious. spring cultivation or light phenoxy or Roundup sprays will control them. Any questions phone 7645-2128.
