Hamiota CAC proposes further study on treatment facility
On June 8 1990 the Hamiota Community Advisory Committee presented a progress report and recommendations to the joint Councils of the R M and Village of Hamiota. The CAC urged continued investigation into a proposed physical chemical treatment plant with a final decision after complete data and studies. They outlined 40 meetings and all contacts, plus consultant reports. The group listed 20 points supporting further investigation, including product types inorganic with some organics, safety precautions, residue handling as dry salts and metals, dry landfills to prevent leaching, no toxic air emissions, local consultants for monitoring, and liability covered by Manitoba Hazardous Waste Management Corp.
