Mobility grants awarded to 27 Manitoba communities
The Program for Transportation of the Mobility Disadvantaged in Rural Manitoba reports 158,643 in annual operating grants to 27 communities led by Winnipegosis and Thompson. Three communities were denied grants as they start services later. Total trips reached 78,861 with 419,387 km traveled in 1986 and an average 7.48 per trip, creating about 40 part time jobs with 320 volunteers province wide.

Mixed night draws 88 golfers for season opener
In Hamiota on May 27 a record 88 golfers attended the first mixed golfing night of the season. Best ball foursome results list Graham Jamieson and partners, with events won by Jamieson Bridgen Asselstine and Lief Decker.
