Memorial ceremony marks 50th anniversary of 1942 Rivers plane crash
On June 9 1942 an Avro Anson from Number 1 Central Navigation School crashed near J G Younger farm killing four air crew. A commemorative cairn will host a memorial on June 9 1992 at 8 00 pm 5 miles east of Cardale with participation from Royal Canadian Legion branches Air Cadets RCMP and local dignitaries.

Grand opening of Manitoba Youth Job Centre in Hamiota
Government and community leaders joined the May 27 grand opening of the MYJC employment program in Hamiota. About 26 attendees, 11:30 ribbon cutting by Mayor Don Mennie, with donuts from Ron Byers, coffee setup by Hamiota Coop and Midwest Recreation’s supplies. Betty Rutherford brought five daycare children. a poster contest at Hamiota Elementary School will showcase works from grade 3 and 4. To date 43 students in the Hamiota Shoal Lake area registered for odd jobs inquiries and calls.

Junior Red Sox Fall in Home Opener to Cardale Cougars
HAMIOTA June night weather aided the Junior Red Sox in a 5 2 home opener loss to Cardale Cougars. Darren Rozdeba pitched a 13 strikeout, 9 walk effort for the Cougars while Kevin Hazelwood led the visitors with two hits. Next home game set for June 10 at 7 00 p m with local volunteers thanked for reestablishing the team.
