Manitoba Credit Unions Secure New Loan Pact With Province
Manitoba credit unions and caisses populaires win a renegotiated 10 year loan framework with the government including a 25 million internal loan via the Credit Union Stabilization Fund and a 3.4 million Le Fonds de Securite loan. The plan uses self help levies to fund operations and deposits insurance while the government covers examination costs during a phased-in transition. Over 330 000 Manitobans are members with 2.3 billion in assets and 1 350 employees in the sector.

A June 26 1987 reception at Municipal Hall Newdale honoured Angie Fossum bride elect of Alan Dmytriw. Guests included her mother Betty Fossum and Alan’s relatives with decorations, gifts in a milk truck wagon, and a light lunch following program. Century Farm Barn Demolished In Miniota Valley Road
The old frame barn near Miniota, built around 1900 by Bill Prentiss, nephew of the Bissetts, and long owned by the O’Conner and Draper families, is removed after the stone foundation was demolished. The Bissetts homesteaded in 1882, passing to Annie Goodwin and then Tillie, remaining in the family for 104 years.

The Community Hall marked Florence Hill's 80th birthday on June 28 with 180 guests. Grandson Robin Hill lit the candles, Zane Mallation piped in, and Eleanor Bailey performed Never Walk Alone with Jean Ann Seivewright. Attendees included family, friends from multiple cities, former students, and greetings from political leaders.
