Hamiota Midget Girls win bid to Edmonton Western Champs
Hamiota girls finished a hard three day provincial run in Winnipeg with a 16-6 loss to Flin Flon in the gold silver match after beating Steinbach 3-2. The victory earned them Manitoba representation at the Western Canadian Softball Championships in Edmonton July 29 through August 1. Off the field the team plans bake sales and a car wash to cover trip costs with community support urged.

Depot hosts successful Hamiota waste depot turnout
Mark Giesbrecht of the Manitoba Hazardous Waste Corporation reported a very successful Household Hazardous Waste depot in Hamiota on June 25. Fifty two vehicles used the collection, with 12 drums of paint, two drums of oil, and a drum each of adhesives caustic aerosols and solvents. The mayor and councillors supported the effort, the village garage facilities were used, and volunteers performed well. The corporation hopes for another collection depot soon.
